Edison Alban, President

Mr. Alban  works as the Press Secretary for the New York Department of State under Governor Andrew Coumo's administration.  He is a graduate of Seton Hall University with a degree in Political Science and International Relations.   Prior professional experience include: Trial Preparation Assistant for the New York County District Attorney's Office, Press Secretary for Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau, Public Affairs Specialist for the New York State Consumer Protection Board.   


Mr. Alban is also the producer and host of a Public Access Television Show "Latin in Manhattan", a variety talk show interviewing Latino personalities and events in New York.

Carol Auquilla, Treasurer

Ms. Auqilla earned a Bachelor degree in International Business from Berkeley College. She currently manages her family business and remains an active member of the community, as a youth leadership group coordinator and the treasurer of EIC's Board of Directors. She is dedicated to helping her community receive access to English language education; having immigrated to the U.S. as a young child she fully understands the importance of having English language skills as building blocks to economic stability and community involvement.  It is her interest in creating opportunities for the immigrant community that has drawn her to being a part of the EIC’s mission. 

Liz Baber, Secretary

Ms. Baber currently works on the Community Health Advocates Program at Emerald Isle Immigration Center (EIIC). As a community health advocate she assists the community members providing information on Healthcare Reform, helping them to navigate the New York State healthcare system and services, conducting community presentations and individual consultations concerning access to healthcare.  Her professional experience has led her to engage the community by coordinating several educational seminars and workshops on Adult Continuing Education, Personal Finances, Domestic Violence Awareness, and Naturalization information.  As a passionate advocate on immigration issues she has attended several rallies and conferences within the immigration public interest sector.


Liz Baber started her relationship with the EIC as a volunteer and staff member and has seen the organization from the bottom up. Prior to this experience she worked with Queens Museum of Art, and the Larrea Studio.  Ms. Baber holds a degree in Molecular Biology from the University of Milan, Italy, and is a talented artist responsible for the design of the EIC’s logo.
